Greenfield Industries Inc. (GFII) is an established leader in the industrial cutting tool industry. The company manufactures and sells drills, taps, end mills, and other cutting tools for a variety of industrial, maintenance, commercial, and construction applications under the brand names Cleveland, Chicago-Latrobe, Cle-Line, Cle-Force, Bassett, Vermont Tap & Die, and Putnam Tools.

In 2009, Greenfield Industries became part of the Top-Eastern Group (TDC), the world's largest manufacturer of twist drills. TDC is a vertically integrated company that maintains the highest quality standards by controlling the entire product manufacturing process from mining the ore, to making the steel, to fabricating finished goods.
Greenfield Industries operates manufacturing and support facilities in Seneca, South Carolina (company headquarters); Evans, Georgia; Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; and Mexico City, Mexico. Parent company TDC owns additional manufacturing facilities in Brazil, Germany, and China, and maintains support facilities in France and in the United States.

Sales and application support for GFII products is managed by a team of application specialists, account managers, and agency firms with many years of experience selling the brands and products. These highly-qualified professionals work with a network of local and national distributors to support end-user requirements. A knowledgeable customer service and technical support team supplies prompt, professional service to both distributors and customers.

History:

  • Greenfield Industries traces its beginnings back to 1874 to Cleveland, OH.
  • Several small manufacturers joined together to form Greenfield Industries in the early 1900s.
  • The company grew rapidly through complementary acquisitions (Rule Industries, Vermont Tap & Die and others) and went public in 1995.
  • Greenfield Industries was acquired by Kennametal Inc. in 1997.
  • Greenfield Industries was acquired by Top-Eastern Group (TDC) in 2009.
  • Headquarters in Seneca, South Carolina are expanded in 2010 by a 51,000 square-foot addition housing the distribution warehouse, coating center, and additional office space.
  • In 2011-2012, end mill, carbide tool, and tap manufacturing centers are established in Seneca, SC.
